Black Out

*This post was typed last Friday but I could not get all the pictures up. This thing is so damn slow at times!

My recent absence from my blog is fully attributed to yesterdays black out. For those of you who did not hear about it, Jakarta (and most of Java and Bali) was plunged into darkness from about 10.30am yesterday till 9.30pm last night. When the lights went out yesterday I lost a shit load of work and about 600 words of a write up. It sucked and I can’t even recover it. I got out of the office pretty early to escape the heat and I spent the afternoon chilling at Starbuck’s reading a book. The city was plunged into chaos when all traffic lights ceased to function and the local motorists reverted to their natural state of anarchism. It is always interesting to watch the system brake down. Through much effort and braving the horrid congestion, we still managed to make our way across town to play our already delayed pool competition.

Last night was the second last game of this leg of the pool competition. Our chances of making it to the next round are slim to none. I would like to make it through just because it is such a good break to get out and meet the crew every Wednesday. It shatters the monotony of the week. We played at Mad Dogs yesterday. They are a great team and we always have a blast playing with them. Neither of us takes the competition half as seriously as our drinking.

Unfortunately we did not win but last night was one hell of a trip.

Things were going pretty smooth till someone decided to open up a bottle of Tequila. Now why the hell would a person do that? There are so many normal drinks to be drunk so why torment every body with shots that bring back revolting memories of long forgotten nights spent kneeling before the porcelain god. Who ever opened that bottle must have a very sick sense of humor and I hope where ever he is right now, he is suffering from a horrible hang over. I am…

We spent the night getting way pissed and with the help of Glen (the owner) we managed to get the old pinball machine up and running. I love pinball!! I need to get one of these bastards at home. Between playing pinball, doing shots of tequila, and playing random games of pool, we managed to stay at the bar till after 2am. Our opponents were long gone and even Glen took leave of us by then. We were left with only 2 bar staff who patiently entertained our continuous calls for the “last drink”.

Next Wednesday will be our last game and unfortunately we will not be blessed with the presence of B Beast-master or Puts Dizzay as they are off to the U, S, of A. LUCKY BASTARDS! It’s all good though, I aint mad atchya. Just bring me back some blog worthy gifts. Preferably, intoxicating liquids. As it is out LAST game, we are gonna kick it up a notch. It is Lydia’s (the girl makin the funny face) birthday as well. Everyone is welcome.
