Back in the Saddle

What a weekend. I got back from Bali and slept for 15 hours straight. I did not catch a wink of sleep for the 3 days I was on the island. I had an awesome time and I totally forgot I wanted to try audio blogging while I was a way. I guess I will have to wait till my next trip. Surri got a taste of what the audio blog would have sounded like when I called him at the apex of Thursday night.

I totally coincidently met up with some Rastafarian friends in Bali who were visiting from Jakarta to play at a concert on Kuta beach, for the carnival. That was on Friday night. It had been ages since I sat on the beach with good friends, playing music and sipping on a bottle. When they finally got up on stage to jam the crowd went wild. The music was awesome and people were jammin and skankin on the beach.

If you recall, my friend Teddy who I gave my old Djimbe to, plays in this band. They are called Stephen and the Coconut Tree’s. So as they jammed on stage, Teddy using my old drum, they actually invited me to come up and jam with them. As I sat there busting out some beats I only wished that the rest of you bastards were there with me. My hands are so sore right now cause I had not played in ages!

Spending the night at a small, intimate concert was the best thing I could have done. There were many other places I could have been but just by chance I ended up where I was and that really made my weekend.

I will post more about my trip in the near future but for now I have to clear my desk of the back log.
