iPod, Therefore I Am...

Daddy’s got a brand new bag baby. Last year my brother bought me an iPod for my birthday. I broke it some time in February this year. I have been sans iPod since then and have had to lug my lap top around just to provide music to my atmosphere. I used to have my iPod hooked up in my car all the time which is super convenient but now I have nothing but a 10 CD changer which I do not bother switching CD’s in anymore. For the last year or more I have been rolling with Nirvana Unplugged, Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon, Gregory Isaacs, St. Germain, some Bob CD, Miles Davis – Bitches Brew, some Indian tunes, The Big Lebowski soundtrack, Stone Temple Pilots – Core, and RHCP...

Last night I got gifted. Yes, I got a gifted a brand spankin new, U2 limited edition iPod. I lost over 1,200 songs on my last iPod and I have only 700 songs on my PC now. This comes at a real handy time too because I am heading to Bali on Thursday. I just take my little tape with a wire thing and I am set.

The U2 edition iPod comes in a black box as opposed to the white one I got last time. The picture also shows that the display screen is color and not black like the old version. Apparently this iPod can also store photos. Gonzo can now brag about his exploits while on the go.

The inner box says, “Designed by Apple in California”. You have to admit that their packaging is pretty cool. And I guess by putting this smack on the front we will not notice the other little tags that say “Made in China”.

The iPod was wrapped in a plastic sheet that reads “DON’T STEAL MUSIC” right across the display screen. There goes Steve trying to appeal to my conscience again. It will not work. The black and red combination looks really cool though.

It came with the manual and software CD, USB 2.0 cable, socket charger, earphones, and earphone sponges. The last iPod I got did not have a USB 2.0 cable so I went out and got a fire wire card that does faster transfers. Also I got a docking station with my last one that does not come in the U2 special edition iPod. I checked just now and the cables provided with this new iPod are shorter as well. Talk about cutting corners. I have also downloaded the software dnd there is nothing new about it really except this botton next to each song that links you to where you can BUY more of that bands songs. Uh, okay...

The back of the iPod is embossed with the signatures of the U2 band members. I feel special now. I gotta let the bastard get juiced up for 5 hours before I can start putting stuff into it and pushing all the buttons. I hope this one lasts longer than the last one.

There are more pictures but the picture uploader is playing the damn fool once again.

Hey dawg, i been stuck on your july posting page for the longest time. Just now bookmarked your blogsite correctly. sorry i missed all the wicked posts man. I especially like the one about the marriage and separate bedrooms and stuff.. cool shit dawg. Ipods are the shit man... i got one as well but the damn tape player in my car refuses to take the tape that hooks up with the ipod so i been listening to radio for the last few months, but it has exposed me to some nice new songs out there, so all good. this U2 one looks real cool though. There is this one song you should get, called "Moon after the Fall" by Outside...amazing song man. You will love it.

Amit, you can get this accesory that fits on top of the ipod and it has a dial on it with radio frequency. You align it to your car stereo radio (or any radio) and you can hear your ipod on it. pretty cool.

Rishi - You should check out the clor graphics on this U2 ipod. I am still trying to figure out how to put pictures on it. Then I will woder why ;-)

True dat. FM Modulators (as they are commonly known) suck big fat donkey balls. I have them for my XM satellite radio, and it's awful.

If you are REALLY desperate to get the IPOD music to your car stereo, you might need to wire an extra connector to the back of your stereo. That sounds great cuz its directly from your IPOD. When you get into your car, plug it into the docking station and viola!
Get a good technician to do this if you are not car-tech literate.

But anyway, the IPOD rocks and so does U2. Looks like you got the best combo :) Hope you enjoy it.
