You Savvy?

I can’t wait till the sequel of Pirates of the Caribbean is released. I have watched Black Pearl about 20 times and then again last night. I am not really into movie sequels as such but this movie has totally captivated my imagination. I am not keen on fantasy and adventure films, and I do not dig Sci-Fi at all (sorry Amit). But pirates!!! What is not to love about them? They spend their lives on the ocean, they are constantly in search of BOOTY, and they end up on the most awesome beaches with exotic local babes. Not to mention they spend most nights swinging rum and singing songs.

The most far-fetched pirate of them all has got to be Captain Jack Sparrow. He is a bad ass with an insane twist to him. Hero’s don’t get any better than that. I read that Johnny Depp modeled the character around Keith Richards, guitarist for the Rolling Stones. And if you don’t know who that is, may the devil have sympathy on your soul. In the sequel it is rumored that Richards will play Captain Jack Sparrows father. That is pretty fuckin monumental. Richards by all logical means is a walking corpse. The man should be dead considering how much toxic shit he has pumped into his veins. Yet the man manages to perform. It will be very interesting to see how he comes through in this movie.

I think the true appeal of pirates to me is the freedom. A boat truly gives you the freedom to go where you want and do what you want. Hundreds of years ago the world was immense. Man boarded ships and headed out into the open ocean not knowing what lay ahead of them. Simple men had this opportunity where as now only highly trained astronauts can venture out into the great unknown. I wonder if it is all relative and if common people in those days viewed great ships as we view rockets, or if it were just as we see cars today. It just seems to me like adventure was more accessible in those days. Well that particular brand of adventure, not jet skiing or bungee jumping. That kind of shit is way more accessible now. Although that stuff wasn’t even invented then. FUCK! You know what I mean.

For now as the tag says, I will search for meaning in the concrete jungle. There are some mini adventures planed this weekend where I can let the Jack Sparrow within me peak out and make some noise. I am hitting a new club tonight. It is the Man U Bar that has just opened up at Sarinah Plaza (old Hard Rock). If I do feel assed to take my camera along you might see some pics on Monday. Happy fuck faces to ya.

Definitely one of my favorite movies. I didn't even know there was a sequel coming out, but I shouldn't be surprised I guess. Hell I would love to get on a boat and disappear for a few months going to god knows where and doing whatever the hell I want. That island seemed pretty sweet (where they went to find the crew ;) ).
Avi why don't you build us a nice boat and then come by and pick all our asses up one by one?? We'll let you be Captain Jack Sparrow if you want....hehe

Hi Avi, I've got a housewarming party this friday and the theme is Pirates. My scottish friend suggested I wear his kilt (the guys are going as wenches, the girls are going as studly pirates - go figure).
Do you know if there are any scottish pirates or is that not a good idea for me to wear a kilt and an eyepatch? A bit pointless if there weren't any scottish pirates right?
What do you think?

Shan - That sounds like it will be an awesome party. I say go with the kilt. I think on a boat with 50 men, out at sea for years at a time, it might not have been the best thing to wear but it is pretty bad ass still.

Arrr!!! I am collecting wood and I shall see you boys on the shores of Kailua one day soon.
