Sita Sings the Blues

Sita Sings the the Blues is a full length animated film that depicts the infamous tale of Ram and Sita in the Ramayana. Currently hailed as ‘the greatest break-up story ever told’, Nina Paley’s interpretation of the Ramayana has comical modern day twists interwoven with the age old epic. What’s even better is that this creation is available online for the public to view and share without any fear of copyright infringement. You can watch the full length film ‘Sita Sings the Blues’ here. The feature showcases various types of animation and a kick ass soundtrack with tracks from the 1920’s jazz singer Annette Hanshaw. My nephews have grown up listening to these stories. It is awesome that they can now enjoy a modern perspective on it. Apart from that it is also amazing to see that artists like Nina Paley put their work out there for people to enjoy without being driven by monetary gain.
